Last Friday, Bismarck and I entertained a filled-to-the-brim audience at The Red Barrel. The enthusiasm and warm exchanges were of the most encouraging kind.
I have been working through a book entitled “The Artist’s Way” that “someone” anonymously surprise gifted to me by leaving it along with a card at my weekly Paradise gig. This book is really a 3 month long creative course in disguise. Every morning I have been writing my 3 stream of conscious “morning pages”.
This past Sunday I attended my weekly Royal Cup Cafe jam session, and left early to join friends and colleagues Steven Roche and Paul Belsito at The Filmmaker’s Gallery for their private showing of American Sniper, a difficult film to watch.
Monday at Paradise rolled into Tuesday at The Red Barrel which delivered an even more successful second night. There were multiple photographers as well as Dennis Kwong who produces a series entitled “Searching for Open Mic Night”. This evening was filmed and Dennis plugged into the PA console to get direct audio and I was interviewed at the end of the night. First interview ever! And of course the music was beautiful.
Last night was the return of Nicole Santiago & DiPiazza’s “Rock the Mic” open mic which saw a huge gathering and an equally large variety of styles both visual and musical. The feature image on this post was taken by a photographer new to town? Sarah Lim.
Onward! Lot’s to do.
