By now y’all must know I like metaphors. It’s an illness that affects all songwriters to some extent. So I figured since the last news update lead off with my totaled truck and then I dipped out for a week, that’s how long it takes to change the oil on a human.
The title image is what I have to look forward to this month! Look at those dates! I’m a working musician baby!
You gotta see the first effort at a promotional image for Noah and the Space Ark! $15 on Fiverr. Not bad.
Alright, let’s do some updates.
In the wake of my totaled truck, I had the blessing of being told by a gentile elder at Rusty Bull Brewing Co. that my music was good but that I had no soul. I did not realize he was wielding an sharpened verbal scythe until it was too late. This lead to a rare Noah Grove facebook venting which then lead to a surprising and powerful voicing of encouragement, support, and approval from the Chucktown scene. Thank you gentile verbal scythe wielding elder, thank you. And I can thank the Charleston music community enough, your words were wise and understanding and just what I needed.
Rey and I made some final changes and printed the masters for his debut album recorded at The Grove! The first album project ever recorded at The Grove in Charleston, SC is complete!
I played for the Benton House for the first time and was awarded a Benton House hat by one of the residents for my performance. The open mic has soldiered on and I am being regularly joined by Daniel Bennett who is shredding on guitar and we are putting out some good sound on Thursdays. It’s been different every week but somehow it’s always got the energy. We went off to “Hey ya!” by Outkast.
Shout out to Sydney Davidson for her success in her booking endeavors! She booked 4 of my 7 gigs this past week!
My folks came into town for a couple days and it was great to see them!
I had a fun moment of confusion at Grand Bohemian Wine Patio on Wednesday. I got a gig request on Monday through the Jyve app and mixed up a 5 for a 4 and marked my calendar for 4/28 instead of 5/28. 5 minutes into playing the manager comes out with a look of confusion wondering why someone is plugged into their outlets playing music on a Wednesday (they don’t do music on Wednesday and don’t staff the patio). Definitely one of the better scheduling mistakes to make though.
I played for Republic Garden & Lounge three times this past week, one of which was a duo with Daniel Bennett.
I played for Georgie Rhein’s new music event at Ghost Monkey Brewery partnered with Bach2Rock music school.
Noah and the Space Ark has our first original music show coming up on June 9th at Awendaw Green!!! Mark your calendars. I’ll leave y’all there. Lots of stuff in development and lots to work on. Have a great week and get on the upbeat!!!
