Alright, we’re a few days out from Halloween. Two years ago, I made a Halloween “Pick-a-song!” and posted them under stage lighting on our front lawn for little vagabond ghouls and creatures and their guardians to make an acoustic selection. Unfortunately, the Halloween elevator music I made scared would-be dancers to the other side of the street and my own stage lighting apparently made my green Frankenstein skin look like blackface. You live and you learn.
Around this time last year, COVID was just reaching its social apex in Charleston, SC and I decided not to sing siren’s songs to little would-be ghost super-spreaders and be held responsible for my neighborhood infection rate nor lauded as a forefather of COVID herd immunity. I love controversy, but you have to pick your battles. Maybe people will be more susceptible to good ideas when they are more bloodied and battle weary.
For the father last year that drove by on his Halloween hay-cart and mourned the loss of a repeat, and the lawn dancers from two years ago, spooky music will again slime and ooze its way through the Shadowmoss air this year!
*DISCLAIMER* IF NOAH IS BOOKED FOR A PRIVATE EVENT FOR HALLOWEEN NIGHT, THE SHOW MAY BE RELOCATED
Since March, it has been a perpetual onslaught of gigs. I was reviewing them recently and it is amazing to think about all the wildly different gigs that have come and gone this year. I counted them up, and so far this year I have played 198 gigs. With what I have scheduled as of now, I will finish out the year with 228. I’ve started turning down gigs because I really need to rest and recharge. I really don’t feel that tired, and I am still excited and motivated.. I guess a recalibration is in order.. some time to take it all in and give the subconscious some processing hours. I guess fatigued is a good descriptor.
Once upon a time..
and how it’s going..
I have had the pleasure of recording a number of music projects in my studio this year. Nathan Douglas is coming out after Thanksgiving to do a 5 song acoustic EP. I have started to cover the walls with photos and stickers. If you have a photo that you’d like to be on my studio wall, email it to me. It will have to pass a basic review, but will most likely make it to the wall. There is A LOT of wall space to cover.
Noah and the Space Ark had a fantastic time at the Edisto Blackwater Boogie. We played a tight and 100mph set and we’re reviewed as fan favorites. It was great camping out with the band and our families.
There was a mobile bus studio there at Givhan’s Ferry State Park for the weekend festival and they were recording impromptu acoustic jams of the various performing acts. We brought some relaxed vibes and peace of mind singing to them about La Ventana.
Grand Bohemian Wine Patio has become a favorite performance spot of mine. Not a lot of seating. It always starts out empty, and always fills up!
I’m getting graphic work done for my open mic and for Noah and the Space Ark! Looking forward to sharing those soon!
Hope you guys have a fantastic HALLOWEEN and honor all that is scary and sacred!!!
